On behalf of the Department of Communities and Justice, we at DANCE1 are committed to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of all children in NSW.

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

At DANCE1, we have a zero tolerance approach to any form of child abuse and are committed to ensuring that DANCE1 is a safe and friendly environment for children and young people. It is imperative that children and young people who access our activities, program, events or services feel safe and supported.

 

DANCE1 acknowledges its duty and responsibility, and is committed to providing a Studio whereby children can dance free from harm, danger and abuse. We will ensure that child safety is embedded in our organisation’s culture, reflected in our policies and procedures and understood and practised at all levels of our sport.

 

This Statement of Commitment to Child Safety complies with the obligations under the following legislation:

 

 

 

We commit to making sure that everyone involved with DANCE1, including studio owners, office administrators, volunteers, parents and participants, understand the important responsibilities and commitments they have in relation to child safety.

 

Our commitment extends beyond creating an environment that minimises risk or danger. We are actively invested in building an environment that is both child-safe, child-friendly and that works to create not just great dancers, but great humans.

 

Together we can provide an environment in which children feel respected, valued and are encouraged to reach their full potential.

The DANCE1 Child Safe Standards outline our mission to protect young people in our care. The Child Safe Standards comprise of the following policies: 

1. Statement of Commitment to Child Safety 

2. Child Safe Policy

3. Child Safe Code of Conduct

4. Child Safe Reporting 

5. Child Safe Recruitment, Induction & Training 

6. Child Safe Risk Management Plan Overview

7. Child Safe Risk Management Plan Identification & Expectations

 

Everyone involved at DANCE1 who oversees child safety, whether an employee, volunteer or contractor is expected to carry out the requirements specific to their role to keep children safe. This includes,

 

a. Upholding DANCE1's commitment to child safety.

b. Reading, signing and upholding the behaviour set out in our Child Safe Code of Conduct.

c. Completing all assigned and ongoing child safe training.

d. Taking part in our regular reviews of our child safe policies.

e. Reporting all breaches of our policies or any allegations of child harm or abuse.
